Miss Wood Will Serve as Children’s Home Chairman
Mr. H. Hiter Harris, Jr., president of the Children’s Home Society of Virginia, announced today that Miss Mary M. Wood will serve as chairman of this year’s fund appeal in Rappahannock County. He remarked: “We are indeed fortunate to have Miss Wood to conduct the appeal this yeaii Since i900, when the Society was organized, it has rendered services to more than 8000 Virginia children. In 1965,222 babies were received into care by the Society and 205 were placed with adoptive parents, as compared to 209 received and 194 placed in 1964. Although services were expanded this past year, over 100 infants could not be helped due to the lack of resources; more staff is needed to counsel with parents and give preadoptive study to babies. These babies must look to the people of Rappahannock County, and other citizens of Virginia for help. We hope everyone will give generously to support the work of this most worthwhile organization.

Meet, Plan Projects
The Rappahannock Arts and Crafts met Tuesday with a work day planned and 10 people present. Knitting, crocheting and aprons were the projects for the day. A short business meeting was held to discuss final arrangements for the Crafts Show to be held at the Rappahannock Library on October 21, 22, and 23. All exhibits to be at the Library between 1 and 5 October 20. Sales will be permitted at the show, so anyone wishing to sell may call a member of the committee, Mrs. James Smith - 987-3881, Mrs. Mary Cleverley - 675-3541, or Mrs. S. W. Riley - 937-3783 for the rules and regulations. There will be another work day October 25, Tuesday at Cab-Inn, Sperryville from 10 to 12. Everyone is invited.
