In Car Mishap Here
A single vehicle traffic crash occurred on Route 211 about 3 1/2 miles west of Amissville Monday evening. John L. Stager of Astoria, N. Y., operat ing a 1966 Pontiac, ran off the right of the road, struck a paper box, veered back across the highway and struck a tree on the left, according to Trooper J. B. Willis. Stager sustained lacerations of the forehead and chin, bruised elbow and sprained back. Mrs. Ruth L. Stager, a passenger in the car, received a bruised left elbow and fractured ribs. She was treated at Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton and released. Mr. Stager remained hospitalized. Both were taken to the hospital by Ami8Sille Rescue Squad. Stager was charged with reck less driving, said the officer. Three people were injured in a collision involving two
. on Route 642 near Amissville. Charles Russell Settle of Castleton sustained lacerations of the hand, abrasions of one elbow and both knees and had several teeth dislocated. He was treated at Fauquier Hospital, Warrentonand released. Charles Hawkins, also of Castleton, sustained a severe laceration of the scalp and several teeth were dislocated. He was admitted to Fauquier Hospital where he remained for a number of days. Settle was operating a 63 Chevrolet in which Hawkins was a passen ger. Landon H. Walker of Viewtown sustained a lacerated forehead and leg and a broken foot. He was also admitted to the hospital in Warrenton. Walker was driving a 59 Ford and was accompanied by three of his children, none of whom were injured. The Settle vehicle was travel ing toward Viewtown and met the Walker car going in the opposite direction. They met on the crest of a hill and collided. Both vehicles were a total loss. Settle was charged with failing to drive to the right of the highway, according to Trooper P. P. Dicks, who investigated.
