Mr. Lea tendered his resignation as coordinator of Civil Defense in the county. This was accepted. Mrs. Elizabeth Buntin, Superintendent of the county welfare department recommended the payment of hospital bills in the amount of $493.18 for indigent patients. E. M. Jones, Clerk of the County requested that County Clerk’s Indemnity Insurance be secured at a cost of $195. This insurance covers clerks in the event of error in filing deeds, trusts, etc. This was approved. Request for salary increases were submitted by a number of the county officials as follows: Treasurer -$5500 from present salary of $5250; Deputy Treasurer - $4000 from $3600: Commissioner of the Revenue - $5500 from $4700; Deputy Commissioner$4000 from $3600; Sheriff - $5404 from $4800; Deputy Sheriff - $4068 from $3600; Deputy Sheriff - $3184 from $2800, Commonwealth’s Attorney made no request for an increase from present $4400. Fashion Show
Rappahannock Hunt’s Fashion Tea, October 21, at Jessamine Hill Farm, Washington, Va., promises to be a truly different style show. Against the backdrop of the Blue Ridge, the sound of the hunting horn and mounted foxhunters will introduce the parade of high fashion. Lord and Taylor’s professional models will treat the guests to an array of brilliant and advanced styles. High tea will be served after the fashion show on the boxwood-rimmed lawn beneath colorful marquees. The public is invited for this gala afternoon's entertainment.
