A 13 day spring gobbler sea son beginning April 29 and closing May 13 in 79 Virginia counties and cities was proposed by the Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries during its regular meeting in Richmond January 13, Executive Director Chester F. Phelps announced. The season would include one more Saturday than last year’s spring turkey season and would begin a few days later. Hunters would be limited to bearded turkeys only and be restricted to shooting hours beginning 1/2 hour before sunrise anc ending at 10 a.m. each day. The use of dogs and driving would be prohibited.
