This is in keeping with the Company’s continuing program of improving service reliability, meeting the accelerating demand for more versatile telephone communications and pro viding for future growth." Largest authorized expenditures to be made in 1967 by Virginia Telephone & Telegraph Company are $630,000 for the addition of new central exchange equipment in Charlottesville, and $525,000 for extending telephone facilities to rural areas around Charlottesville and each of the outlying exchanges in the Company’s Central District. These allocations are designed to materially improve the - quality of telephone service and provide additional modern facilities and equipment in anticipation of growth. $344,800 will be .spent for equipment additions to theAfv tavista, Blackstone, Dillwyn, Hampden-SydneySouth Boston, and Victoria exchanges; and $310,500 for major additions of Direct Distance Dialing and other toll equipment at Charlottesville to improve long-distance service to customers. In all, more than $2 million will be spent by Virginia Telephone & Telegraph Company on central exchange equipment in Virginia during 1967.
