$6 Million Outlay
To keep ahead of the evergrowing demand for expanded telecommunications service, Virginia Telephone & Telegraph Company will spend $6,426,000 for construction in Virginia during 1967; up from last year's expenditures of over $5.1 million. This will provide for expansion and improvement of telephone service in the Virginia T & T service area, according to D. H. Reid, Division Manager, Charlottesville. In a forecast of construction activities, Reid said Virginia T & T will surpass many goals achieved in 1966, when more than 5,200 new telephones were added. He said a similar good growth in the number of telephones served is anticipated for 1967 as the Company’s total investment in plant, equipment and facilities in Virginia climbs to new highs of nearly $46 million by the end of this year. Reid said money will he used throughout the communities and adjacent rural areas served by Virginia T & T’s
