The Estes store building in Sperryvivlle is seen as it is half dismantled. The floor joists were 2x12 timbers 18 to 22 feet long and the standing timbers both 2x4’s and 4x4’s measured as much as 18 feet. Much of the construction was mortise and tenon and locust pegs were used in strategic joints. Nails used were home made. The building was constructed by John S. Buckner, grandfather of A. H. Buckner, Jr., of Sperryville
