Contracts Awarded
Virginia ranked fifth among the 50 states in the number of highway construction contracts awarded during the first quarter of 1967, accord ing to a report prepared by the U* S. Bureau of Public Roads. The State's total of 83 contracts was exceeded only by the number of awards in Kentucky, Iowa, Illinois and Texas'the Bureau said. The amount of Virginia contracts totaled $34.7 million eighth among the states. The contracts provided for new construction and improvements totaling 110 miles.
