The carnival season opens in Rappahannock County on Monday, June 12 when the Washington Fire Department and Rappahannock Rescue Squad will sponsor a weeklong carnival. Beginning the 12th, it will continue through Saturday, June 17, and the week will offer fun andexcitement for carnival goers. The food stand and one large game stand will be operated by the two local sponsoring organizations. Other concessions, numbering 25, will be operated by the Page Combined Shows of Louisville, Ky. There will be rides for children and adults, and games and prizes for all ages. According to Mrs. Bertha Armel, donations of food are wanted for the fpod stand for any and every night. Carillon Recitals Set
Beginning on Thursday, June 1, recitals on the Belle Brown Northcott Memorial Carillon at the Luray Singing Tower will be given each Tuesday, i Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday at 8:00 p.m., EDT. Sunset Vesper Services will begin the first Sunday in July. The recitals given by Charles Chapman are open to the public without charge and free parking is provided.
Rush River To Get
Trout Next Week
Rainbow trout will be released in Rush River June 6 at 12:30 p.m., according to Game Warden Irvin Kenyon. The season is not closed for this restocking. In addition to Rush River in Rappahannock County, the Hughes River in Madison will also be stocked from Peola Mills upstream. These will also be rainbows and will be released about 10;45a.m. June 6. South River and Swift Run in Greene County will be stock ed June 5 at 10;30 a.m., said the warden.
