Ruritans Prepare
To ‘Beef It Up’
The annual pit-cooked barbecue sponsored by Amissville Ruritan Club is scheduled for Saturday, July 1 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Amissville carnival grounds. Food will be served from 5 to 9 p.m. The succulent beef which will be pit-cooked slowly for hours will be accompanied by vegetables, salad, drink and dessert. The men of the club will do all the cooking and serving. Price of the dinner is $1.75 for adults and 75 cents for children under 12. In addition to the delightful food, there will be rides for children and prizes will be awarded.
Plans Progress for
Sperryville Carnival
Sperryville firemen are making progress in preparation for the annual carnival scheduled for July 12-15. A parade is scheduled for Thursday night the 13th beginning at 7 p.m. EDT. Other activities scheduled for the four night event are crowning of the Queen on Friday and awarding of prizes Saturday night. Entries for the parade number over 100 and include four bands, fire and rescue squad equipment, majorette groups and singles, comic entries and many more. A box supper will be available following the parade and hamburgers, hotdogs, drinks, pie, cake and an abundance of food and drinks will be on sale at the food stand. Prizes will be awarded Saturday at the close of the carnival and include a 67 Ford and many others.
