with two years of Army duty ifrom 1944 until 1946. In 1947 he received a temporary appointment as a park ranger in' Shenandoah and remained here in that position and as a fire control aid and laborer leadman until 1953 when he transferred to the State Department and was stationed near Front Royal as a security assistant. In 1957 he returned to the Park Service, receiving his permanent appointment as a Park Ranger at Colonial National Historic Park, Yorktown. He was reassigned to Shenandoah in 1958 and remained until 1962 when 'he was promoted to District Park Ranger at the Cape Cod
