TO: Any one having planted wildlife food patch. SUBJECT: Wildlife food patch contest. As previously announced the Rappahannock Game and Fish Club is sponsoring a food patch contest with a $10.00 first and $5.00 second prize. There is no charge for entering.
Anyone who would like to enter this contest is asked to please notify the Extension Office in Washington, Mr. Boze at the High School. Mr. Charles Foster at Flint Hill, or Mr. Irvin Kenyon, Came Warden. The latter may be reached by phone,824-5792 or through the Sheriff’s Office. Please give name and directions to your home and location of food patch. This information must be in by Friday, October 13, 1967. Judging is planned for October 21. ; Everyone who planted any tseed at all is asked to please 'enter the contest. No one needs to be concerned that his patch 'did not do well. Let the judges make the decision. The judges will not only judge your patch but will be able to give you some helpful hints that will help you produce even better patches in the future. The greater the number of entries will also encourage the sponsors to have a contest in the future. Remember, too, the prizes are only to encourage plantings. The real winners will be the wildlife which will bene fit from your plantings this year or in years to come.
Wins Horn Blowing Contest
Randy Smith of Amissville was winner of the junior fox horn blowing contest held last week in Fredericksburg. This is the fourth consecutive year he has placed first in the contest which is held in connection with the Fredericksburg Fall Festival and Dog Mart there. Randy is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Smith.
