Purchases Tanker
TTie Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department has recently purchased a 51 Chevrolet water tanker, the 1100 gallon capacity tank is equipped vyth a pump. When this equipment\is put into operation within the tiext three or four weeks, the fire company will have approximately 3300 gallons of water at its disposal at all times. TTiey have a 750 gallon tank on the fire engine plus a 1500 gallon underground storage tank, according to Chief Joe Williams. The following is the alarm code for the Chester Gap unit: one long blast will sound for a fire meeting; two long blasts will be for the Rescue Squad and more than two blasts will be for a fire or fire drill. The new phone number for the fire or rescue units is 635-54821.
Jaycees Sponsor Shooting Matches
The Rappahannock Jaycees will sponsor a shooting match Friday night, September 27, 1968 from 8 to 11 p.m. at Ivy Hill Tea Room near Sperryville. Shooting matches will continue each Friday evening thereafter.
On November 15 a Remington Model 1100 Shotgun will be given away. Second prize will be an old Virginia ham.
Amissville Homecoming
A Homecoming at Amissville Methodist Church is scheduled for Sunday, September 29, 1968 with a morning and afternoon service and picnic dinner on the grounds. The Rev. James Harrison, a former pastor of the church, will be the guest speaker. The public is extended a cordial invitation to attend.
