The Rappahannock County Health Department has had a busy year according to its report forthcoming. Personnel of the Department are Mrs. Frances Thornton, Nurse; J. Lockhart, Sanitarian; Dr. L. A. Dickerson, Director and Mrs. Patricia Giles, Clerk and newest member. The year’s activities are reported here.
One sanitarian is assigned to Rappahannock County three days per week to work in the environmental health program. His duties are concerned mainly with sewage disposal work, food sanitation and the investigation and correction of complaints that concern the health of the public.
Rappahannock County has two sewage treatment plants at the two schools which are under the supervision of the Rappahannock County Health Department. The new plant at the Elementary School was supervised by the Health Department in cooperation with the architect during construction. Six hundred-forty sanitation visits were made in the County during 1968, of which two hundred-fifty visits were in sewage work. The septic tank contractors have been very cooperative in scheduling their work so that final approval for .VkVWMkWWWWWWWI

The Amissville Fire Department responded to a call Friday at the home of Mrs. Charlie Compton where an auto was on fire.
Amissville Rescue Squad took Mrs. Paul Smith to Culpeper Memorial Hospital the same day, September 5. The following day George Hackley was brought to his home from Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton. On September 7, Vivian Hogue was taken to Fauquier Hospital, and Tuesday John Silvey, Jr. was taken to the! hospital in Warrenton with a cut hand.
Wednesday, Sept. 3 the Rappahannock Rescue Squad, took Nelson Jenkins from home to the Veterans Adm. Hospital in' Washington, D.C. The same day Stant Weaver was taken to the Culpeper Memorial Hospital. Sunday night Mrs. Charles Jenkins was taken from her home in Jenkins Hollow to the University of Virginia Hospital.
Flint Hill Rescue Squad took Odie Nicholson to the Newton D. Baker Hospital in Martinsburg, W, Va. on Monday.
