Rescue Group Plans

Harvest Festival

A Harvest Festival sponsored by the Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad, Inc., is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, October 3 and 4 at the carnival grounds in Sperryville. There will be rides, games, food, fun and entertainment for everyone. Among the prizes which will be given away are a 19 inch color television set, Holstein bull calf, transistor radio, old Virginia ham and 25 gallons of gas. These prizes are furnished by Rappahannock Farmers’ Cooperative, Mount Vernon Stock Farm, Sperryville Comer Store, Baldwin’s West End Shell and Sperryville Esso. The public is invited and urged to attend and support the efforts of these volunteers.

Mrs. Havstad Hosts

Local Garden Club

The regular monthly meeting of the Rappahannock County Garden Club will be on Wednesday, September 17 at two o’clock. Mrs. Harald Havstad will be the hostess at her home near Sperryville. Mrs. J. L. Yowell will be chairman of the program on “Native Plants for Home Planting.” The exhibit for September is a fall arrangement of fruits and/or flowers.

Elementary PTA

Sets First Meeting

The Rappahannock Elementary School P. T. A. will conduct its first meeting of the school year next Tuesday evening, September 16 at 7:30, at the school.

Preston Pulliam, Republican candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates, will present his views and answer questions dealing with educational problems in the state of Virginia and more specifically with those problems which concern Rappahannock schools.

The public is invited to attend.
