from page 1) The sanitarian appreciates the cooperation received during 1968 from all the County agencies in Rappahannock County.
When the services of a Pediatrician, Dr. C. M. Kim, Front Royal became available, a Well Baby Clinic was started in August, 1968. This much needed service was conducted once monthly until Dr. Kim moved away in July, 1969. Monthly immunization clinics are held at the Health Department and a mobile chest x-ray unit visits the county every 4-6 months or whenever it is needed.
Other clinic services are available to Rappahannock residents in out-of-county centers. Lack of transportation is quite a problem for many families referred to these clinics, some of which are: Heart Disease, Neurological disorders (includes seizures), Orthopedics, Cerebral Palsy, Bums, Facial Deformity, Plastic Surgery, Multiple Handicap, Mental Retardation, Eye Imbalance, Defective Hearing, Pediatric Urology, Physical Therapy, Tuberculosis Control, and Family Planning.
It should be noted that at present there are no clinic services available for mental illness, prenatal care or well babies except for an occasional patient seen at the University Hospital clinics. If transportation were not a problem, it remains difficult to obtain appointments at these clinics because of over crowded conditions there.
