Extension Agent,
Home Economics
Last week the agent went to a home in the county to assist the homemaker with the decorating and remodeling of her home. The request had come into the office several months ago but due to the heavy youth activities and other problems, the agent had been unable to get to it.
This homemaker had learned of the services through another homemaker who had also requested the services of the agent for the remodeling of her kitchen earlier in the year. During the conversation the homemaker made the comment that she didn’t know that the services of the agent were free; also, that the agent was trained to work with housing, decorating and remodeling. The agent came to the conclusion after the discussion with other homemakers that many of the people are not aware of this particular facet of the Extension Home Economist’s work.
The Extension Home Economist is available as a consultant to the people of the county in areas of building, remodeling and decorating of the home. She also, has available many publications that homeowners may review upon request.
There are also housing specialist [at V. P. I. in Blacksburg who are available upon request from the extension office.
