the individual sewage systems can be made when the sanitarian is in the County.
Visits to the restaurants were made quite frequently by the sanitarian in order to determine if the food establishments were operating in a sanitary manner. A school was held in Front Royal for food handlers in Rappahannock County. The principles of sanitary food handling were explained to the group.
Milk samples were taken from the milk trucks for laboratory examination, trailer parks were inspected for proper spacing and garbage handling, water samples were taken from individual wells when requested and nufnerous complaints registered at the Health Department were investigated.

Adult Ed. Classes
Begin Third Year
The third year of Adult Basic Education classes will begin in Warren and Rappahannock Counties this fall. Registration is set for September 11, at 7:00 p.m. at Warren County High School for Warren County residents and September 15, at 7:00 p.m. at Rappahannock County High School for Rappahannock County residents.
Eligibility for the classes will be limited to those persons who are 18 years old or older and did not go beyond the eighth grade and who are not enrolled in a secondary school. Especially designed teaching materials will be used to teach adults reading, writing, and arithmetic. Classes will meet twice a week from 7:00 • 9:30 p.m. and will be limited to 15 students per class.
There is no charge to the adult student, the entire cost is financed by local, state, and federal governments. The Adult Basic Education program’s aim is to better prepare individuals to meet the demands of a complex and changing society.
The program will be under the supervision of Robert R. Long. Mr. Long asked that all interested adults attend the first class meeting in their respective county or contact him at Warren County High School (635-4144) for more details. Mr. ix>ng also asks that all residents of Warren and Rappahannock Counties assist in reaching those adults who could benefit from such a program.
