A report from the dump committee revealed that the contract for the coming year will be $12,500. The increase includes some additional containers and higher operating costs. The dump will be policed twice a month and bulldozers used on these occasions to keep it in order. The dumpster unit at Huntly has been set afire several times in the past month and wit was noted that the contractor would press charges if he finds who is dome this.
Bids on painting the outside of the county buildings had been received, one for $2,775 and the other for $3.25 per hour for labor plus 15%. No decision was made, possibility of the county purchasing fire equipment for various companies to avoid excess tax costs which on a large piece of equipment could run near $800. After purchase, with funds supplied by the company, the engine would be licensed to the company. This was discussed slightly, but not felt legally possible.
Electrical wiring in the jail was brought up since the contractor who submitted the bid, has not acted. The Clerk was asked to look into the matter again.
There was no report on highway activity for James Skeens, Resident Engineer, who was just back from helping out in the Nelson County crises which arose from the floods.

The county boundary markers were again discussed and most Board members are not satisfied with the boundary survey results as far as markings go. Commonwealth’s Attorney George H. Davis, Jr. was requested again to have an audience with the surveyor.
