Other Auto Mishaps
! Two cows were struck by vehicles on Route 522, one on Friday and the other on Sunday, in the same location.
A 1965 Ford tractor-trailer operated by Herbert William Webster of Matoaca struck and killed an Angus cow owned by Eldon Farm. Damage to the truck was estimated at $50 and the animal was valued at $175, according to Trooper W. A. Buntin.
He also investigated the second wreck which occurred on Sunday. Willie James Spillman of Boston, Va., operating a 56 Ford pickup struck an Angus cow owned by Eldon Farm. The damage was estimated at $200 to the truck.
Robert Bernard Lillard of Peola Mills was involved in a single-car crash Sunday evening on Rte. 211 three and a half miles west of Sperryville. He was charged with reckless driving following the wreck after he apparently went to sleep, ran off the road and struck the bank. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $200.
Three cars were involved in a collision Sunday afternoon about 5 p.m. on Rte. 211, a mile and a half west of Washington. Kenneth Hugh Green of Rockville, Md. operating a 1968 Buick station wagon and demon William Schutt of Seabrook, Md. in a 66 Dodge had stopped in the lane of traffic. The Schutt car was struck in the rear by Florine Mae Sisk of Sperryville in a 68 Chevrolet, and pushed into the rear of the Green Jvehicle. Mrs. Sisk was charged with following too closely, i Trooper J. B. Willis investigated Ithe two crashes above.
