Hold Convention

The four-county Rural Letter Carrier Association’s annual meeting was held April 24 at the Village Inn, Sperryville. Representatives from Madison, Orange, Culpeper and Rappahannock counties were present for the election of officers and selection of delegates for the state meeting in June. Tom Willoughby from Rapidan was elected president of the group; Allen Ellett, Rixeyville was named vice president and Charlie Compton of Amissville retained the position of secretary-treasurer. Delegates chosen to attend the convention at Mountain Lake on June 28, 29 and 30 are Tom Willoughby, Allen Ellett, Pete Norris and Jack Griffin of Culpeper, Henry Fitzhugh, Gordonsville and C. F. Yates, Reva. E. C. Showalter of Weyers Cave, who is vice president of the State Rural Letter Carriers Association, was guest speaker.

Golf Champion

John Henry Williams of Amissville was named winner of the North Western High School District Golf Tournament held last week in Fauquier. He is a member of the Fauquier High School team which placed second as a team. John Henry is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Williams. He will participate in the state meet which is scheduled for May 18 and 19 at Shen-Valee at New Market.

Second individual was Chris Redo of Broad Run.

The Fauquier team was undefeated until the tournament. Team members, in addition to Williams, are Henry Fletcher, Jerry Utz and Scott Lawrence.
