The holding power at the high school level increased as evidenced by an increase in secondary enrollment from 265 in 194849 to 420 in 1971-72, while the census of school age children shows a decline during that period. The high school dropout rate decreased from 11.8% in 1951 to 5.9% in 1971.
A new high school facility was constructed in 1959 and an addition of 5 classrooms and an industrial arts shop were completed in 1965.
In 1968 a consolidated elementary school was completed. The opening of this school made it possible to close six small schools which were built in the early 1900’s.
An improved school bus fleet with a school board operated bus repair »and maintenance shop since 1963 has added efficiency to the school transportation system.
