county’s original commitment toward the college had been for capital outlay only. Stokes said he understood that situation, but that the funds being requested were needed for buying learning aids and providing for a student assistance fund.
Herbert Foster also mentioned the original capital outlay agreement.

At the same time, Miller
also thought “that the potential of the community college is so great I don’t think we should stand in the way, and that we should pay the $1,200 now.” Mrs. Betty Coates made a motto n to that effect. Vice chairman J. R. Latham was asked to preside momentarily so Miller could second the motion.
All voted “aye,” with Foster grumbling about “this could get out of hand.” Said Miller: “It bothers me, too.”
“I don’t mind the $1,200 now,” added Foster, “but it could get up to four or five in a few years.”
