PRODUCERS who chose wheat and feed grain program plans that included set-aside acreage are being reminded that the fivemonth period during which grazing of set-aside is prohibited begins May 1.

This limitation on the use of set-aside acreage applies to producers who want to earn the full program payment, says Vic duPont, Chairman of the Loudoun County Agricultural Stabilizatvon and Conservation (ASC) committee.

Other producers who also chose the set-aside options may elect to graze the acreage throughout the year, or to cut hay or silage from it, provided they give advance notice to the ASCS county office. They also will forfeit a part of their program payment.
