AN AWARDS assembly was held Tuesday at Rappahannock County High School when recognition was made of students in various departments. Principal Dennis Wingfield presided at the assembly and introduced instructors who made specific awards. A math award was presented Mauri Raney by James Adkins. Awards in French given by Miss Cynthia Davis were received by Mary Moore Kilby, Cil Davis and Charla Sisk. Chuck Harper received the Geography award given by Miss Julia Fink. In the commercial department headed by Mrs. Kathryn Pomeroy, a bookkeeping citation went to Linda Ralls while Richard Helmer, Vo-Ag instructor, gave James Kindall an award in industrial arts. He also recognized Walter Lillard and Arnold Williams for their special assistance and called their award the “thank God for them” award.
Mrs. Pomeroy also noted excellence in shorthand done by Debbie Jenkins as well as typing. Linda Ralls, Nancy Jones and Charla Sisk also received recognition in Typing. Mr. B. G. Titchenell presented an award in social studies which went to Cil Davis and the home ec Crisco
BRIDGE CLUB
Mrs. W. H. Massie, Jr. entertained the Washington Bridge Club Thursday evening at her home. Her guests were Mrs. F. W. Spalding, Mrs. L. J. Turner, Mrs. G. H. Davis, Jr., Mrs. Paul Miller, Mrs. T. C. Lea, Mrs. Elmo D. Flynt, Mrs. H. L. Smith and Mrs. H. M. Keyser. Prizes were won by Mrs. Lea, Mrs. Flynt. Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Keyser.
