Miss Carolyn Keith Johnston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Morgan Johnston of Washington, Va., became the bride of Andrew Lipscomb Meade, son of Dr. and Mrs. Richard Andrew Meade of Charlottesville, on Saturday, May 26, 1973.
The Rev. Charles F. Glaenzer of Highland Springs, performed the double ring ceremony in Trinity Episcopal Church, Washington, at 3 o’clock.
The church was decorated with magnolia and candelabra, with altar flowers of white snapdragons, daiseies and babies breath.
The organist, Mrs. Paul Nichols of Flint Hill, played traditional wedding music which included “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.” J.S. Bach; “Ave Maria,” Schubert; “0 Perfect Love,” J. Barnby, and Purcell’s “Trumpet Voluntary.”
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a formal gown of candlelight satin organza with Alencon and Venise lace trim. It was designed with a high neckline, lantern sleeves and the flounced hemline extended to a train. Her fingertip mantilla was of Belgian lace and she carried a cascade of white roses, blue delphinium and babies breath.
