THE WASHINGTON FIRE Department and Rescue Squad benefit carnival began last night and will continue Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the carnival ground just off Route 211. Rides, games prizes, food and fun are featured at the annual event. A special attraction for Friday evening, July 13 will be the selection of a young lady for carnival queen, with a coronation ceremony declaring the winner honorary fire chief for the following year. Though it will be Friday the 13th, some lovely lassie will be lucky.
Rides are featured on the midway each evening and the food stand always provides abundant good food, coffee and sweets. The Washington Fire Company and Rescue Squad needs the support of everyone to be able to continue the service rendered the public. Only last week this unit was commended for its excellent, rapid service which probably was responsible for saving the life of a local resident who is presently recuperating in the hospital from a serious heart condition. □
