“Good point,” said Commonwealth’s Attorney Geoorge Davis.
“I don’t think communications will be a problem,” Miller said.
“It’ll work itself out,” said board member Herbert Foster.
“We can’t wait for it to be worked out,” Mrs. Coates said. “Increase his time.”
“Three days a week?” Miller asked.
“One man for three days,” H. B. Wood Jr. said.
MRS. COATES then questioned the zoning ordinance and planning devices in the county. “From what I’ve seen, natural growth would be better than planned growth on the roadside.”
Mrs. Coates then made a motion to ask McNear to two days or three, if necessary, and be building inspector also. Wood seconded the motion.
“What happens if he turns it down?” Foster asked.
“Get somebody else, get one person,” Mrs. Coates said.
“We’ve got a fairly smooth program. Why stop it abruptly? I*m just not in favor of it,” Miller said.
“We’re not going to stop it abruptly,” Mrs. Coates said.
“You know he can’t. He said he can’t work one more day a week,” Miller said.
“If I find that I can’t do the job I would resign,” Mrs. Coates countered.
Barksdale thought it would be “a mistake” to remove Col. McNear from his position.
“Mr. Barksdale, people in my district say they don’t understand the zoning ordinance,” Mrs. Coates said.
“No way to make zoning oridnances easy to understand,” Miller said.
