Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Dodson of Amissville announce the marriage of their daughter, Janet Leigh, to Roger Lee Hitt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lee Hitt of Culpeper. The marriage was performed by the Rev. Milton Switzer at Gourdvine Baptist Church on Saturday, June 16. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a formal gown of white taffeta designed with a standup neckline and long sheer sleeves inserted with lace. Her floor length veil was attached to a crown of seed pearls and she carried a bouquet of daisies centered with an orchid. Miss Angela Grigsby of Amissville, a cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. Her long gown was of pink nylon over taffeta with a white bodice and long sleeves, her flowers were blue marguerits daisies.
Bridesmaids were Mrs. Milton Switzer Jr., of Culpeper, sister of the bride, Miss Diane Bawkey of Rixeyville and Miss Marsha Berry of Viewtown, her cousins, and Miss Christine Spicer of Amissville. Their gowns were aqua nylon designed like that of the maid of honor, and they wore veiled braided headpieces. They carried bouquets of pink daisies.
Kimberly Wayland, the bride’s niece, was flower girl and Sean Wayland, nephew of the.bride, was ringbearer.
The best man was Bob Embrey of Jeffersonton and ushers were Allen Rosson, Arthur Pullen and Mark Wayne Hitt, brother of the bridegroom, all of Culpeper, and Clarence Dodson of Viewtown, brother of the bride.
