A NEW LAW, effective July 1, will require brakes on both front and rear wheels of all motorcylces manufactured after July 1 and will prohibit altering existing brake systems, says Colonel H. W. Burgess, Superintendent of State Police.

Formerly, brakes were required on only one wheel, of a motorcycle, and motorcycles manufactured before July 1, 1974, which were originally equipped with brakes on but one wheel, could be operated legally.
