OBITUARIES
Cmdr. Green
A graveside service for Lt. Cmdr. Robert Lewis Green, USNR, Ret. of Pioneertown, Cal., was held June 16 in the Amissville United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Douglas Kanney. He was 84, a native of Culpeper County, the son of the late Rice E. Green and Callie James Wood Green. He died May 13 in California.
He joined the Navy in 1908 and served several subsequent tours of duty with the Merchant Marine and Navy Reserve between periods of civilian life at which times he was with the post office, railway mail service, and in the automobile business.
He was a 32nd degree Shriner for over 50 years, a member of the Order of the Elks, American Legion and Retired Officers Association.
Survivors include two sons, Lt. Cmdr. Robert P. Green, USN, Ret. of Virginia Beach and Capt. R. Bruce Green, USNR, of Hilo, Hawaii, six grandsons and one great - grandson; and four sisters, Mrs. Thelma Larrivee of Amissville, Mrs. Anna Woodworth of Rockville, Md., Mrs. Lillian Betzel of Accotink, Md. and Mrs. Freena Balkmer of Hastings, Neb.
Geest Funeral Home, Culpeper was in charge of local arrangements.□
