THE LOWEST February traffic death toll in Virginia since 1961, the lowest April one since 1963, the lowest May one since 1962 and the lowest June one since 1971 combined to give Virginia the lowest total for the first half of a year since 1963, says Colonel H. W. Burgess, Superintendent of State Police.
He noted that February deaths were down 90-50 from 1973, April 97-73, May 122-62 and June 13189. On the other hand, he said, January deaths were up 77-79 and March 9195. Total for the first half of 1974 was 452 while that for 1973 was 608.
