NOTICE OF HEARING
The Virginia State Water Control Board will convene a hearing on August 9, 1974, at 10 a.m. in the Town Council Chambers, Municipal Building, 118 West Davis Street, Culpeper, Virginia, for the purpose of receiving comments on a metropolitan/Regional Water Quality Management Plan for the Rappahannock - Rapidan Planning District. The Planning District includes the counties of Fauquier, Rappahannock, Culpeper, Madison, and Orange and the towns of Remington, The Plains, Warrenton, Culpeper, Madison, Gordonsville, and Orange.
In accordance with the State Water Control Law, the Board may adopt comprehensive water quality management plans on an area-wide basis. In conjunction with this, when considering proposals for waste treatment facilities, the Board shall ensure that their approval is in accord with the adopted water quality management plan for the area. In order to reflect changing needs of a planning area for which a water quality management plan has been adopted, the plan may be periodically modified and/or amended.
The Metropolitan/Regional Water Quality Management Plan divides the District into smaller study areas and presents alternatives lor wastewater and water quality management within these areas. The plan also recommends an alternative for each study area. The purpose of the hearing will be to receive comments on the alternatives presented in the plan and whether or not the recommended alternatives should be adopted by the Board as the Metropolitan / Regional Water Quality Management Plan for the Rappahannock - Rapidan Planning District.
