“THERE ARE many acres of steep open land in Rappahannock County that have been abandoned or are too steep to maintain in good pasture. These areas would be very suitable for tree planting,” says Clifton W. Jenkins, Chief Forest Warden for Rappahannock County. He and Forester Evan Sharp are available to examine tree planting sites to determine the species best suited for the area and the number of trees needed.
The Virginia Division of Forestry will locate the labor necessary to do the tree planting and will oversee the planting job. Tree seedlings are sold by the Virginia Division of Forestry for reforestation, Christmas trees and windbreaks.
