In order to be eligible for tuition assistance, a handicapped child must be between five and twenty-one years of age, or between two and twenty-one if hearing impaired.
Children eligible for tuition assistance include those who are mentally retarded, physically handicapped, emotionally disturbed, learning disabled, hearing impaired, multiple handicapped and visually impaired. State Department of Education guidelines are used in determining eligibility.
TUITION assistance is available only for those children for whom a special education program does not exist in a local or State school or institution.
