A GROUP of legal secretaries from Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock Counties met Wednesday evening, September 10, at Holiday Inn to form a local chapter of the National Association of Legal Secretaries (NALS). This chapter will be chartered under the name of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock Counties Legal Secretaries Association and will operate under the name of Culpeper County Legal Secretaries Association.
The purpose of the association is to help its members become better legal secretaries through the many varied training programs and seminars offered. Guests for the evening were Eugenie Rees, president of the Virginia Association of Legal Secretaries (VALS), and Ramona Shank, first vice president of VALS.
Speaker for the evening was Carroll Kem Shackelford, attorney, who gave her views of the legal profession and the responsibilities of a legal secretary.
