SOUTHEASTERN poultry, livestock, egg, cotton and tobacco prices rose during the weekended September 12. according to USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service. However, grain prices dropped for the third straight week.
Southeastern feeder cattle prices continued to rise, and total weekly receipts were the largest of the year. Prices ranged generally steady to $1 higher, with instances of $2 higher in Florida and South Carolina. Barrows and gilts continued with their sixth week of higher trends and advanced 50 cents.
Meanwhile, southeastern grain prices continued to decline. Corn prices ranged mostly 5 to 7 cents lower with a cash spread of $2.60 to $3.11 Soybean prices trended mostly 10 to 15 cents lower with a cash spread of $5.05 to $5.22.
