District Solid Waste Management Director R. H. Foreman has given the site tentative approval. Final approval processing would include a detailed investigation by a soil scientist or soil technition and State Water Control Board geology study, according to Foreman.
“WE would use a back hoe and go as deep as we can to study the strata, looking for the water table,” said Foreman. “We would like a 20-foot depth of easily excavatable soil.” This is not a hard and fast regulation, though, explained Foreman and wouldn’t preclude a site with soils only workable to 12 to 14 feet.
Primarily, the area needs to be well drained, with a slope of eight to ten degrees, Foreman said. The landfill would be excavated from the deepest part to the drain and all water would have to drain
