The traditional autumn apple sales sponsored by the Rappahannock Lions Club will be held the weekends of October 9-10 and 16-17 with the sales stand open each day from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. It will be located at the old Washington apple packing plant west of Washington on Route 211.
Those who have volunteered to help turn red apples into green cash include Dale Metzinger, Bob Anderson, Raymond Johnson, Clyde Johnson, Oliver Carver, Paul Nichols, Bill Racer, and Andy Pennington. Other Lions wishing to volunteer may call Bob Anderson at 987-8206.
On October 9 apple butter will also be made at the sales location. (Note change from previous announcement). Paul Nichols is in charge of the Rappahannock style apple butter boiling. Anyone wishing to help peel and core apples Friday night prior to the applebutter demonstration or who will help to cook and stir on Saturday should call Lion Nichols at 675-3500.
