He also said that a recycling program could be used to dispose of large, bulky items. The material could be stored and picked up by a private contractor once a month.
State regulations require a gate be installed to limit access to the landfill but there are no fencing requirements except in special circumstances, said Foreman. However, natural screening of the site must be maintained.
In regard to privately owned landfills, Foreman said regulations governing their use are the same as those applied to public facilities. Foreman’s area of responsibility includes 17 counties
