feel sure some person somewhere would say they could and would, -a do the job, He most assuredly would have an “S” on his chest, but I’m not sure if it would stand for Superman or Stupid!
I would ask each parent in this county to consider a very real possibility for each of us. Suppose you woke up tomorrow and your spouse was dead. Could you continue to raise and provide for your family? Most of us would answer in Hie affirmative to this question. But, how many of us could answer yes if the question asked were; “Can you continue to raise and provide for your family as adequately as before?” Most one-parent families would answer “no.” Some would say “yes, but with considerable emotional and physical stress.”
Without a doubt we could get someone to say they could do the job; but, 1 wonder if it would be done adequately and not cause severe mental or physical collapse of this person.
It is a question of whether the people of this county want adequate quality education for their children or enough to just get by. It is the duty of every citizen in this county to let their representative on the School Board know how they feel on this and any matter that concerns our children. Attend the School Board meetings and find out just how hard these representatives are working for us. Find out if they are representing your views and desires, then show your appreciation or disapproval. The School Board does not have the power to tax for revenue needed. Yet they must provide an educational system mandated by the state Standards of Quality. They are caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. Thejfcneed Hie support and interest of every parent.
Likewise, the Board of Supervisors needs input from parents when the budget comes up for approval. No one wants higher taxes, yet, we are each willing to go into debt for the things we really want. We need to let the Board of Supervisors know what the parents of Rappahannock County really want. Exercise the freedoms our ancestors fought to provide us with.
