$1200 maximum allocation to purchase stage lights for high school drama in response to a request from Donald Baumberger, organizer of all the recent high school theater productions.

“There are limited outlets for children in a small high school,” said T. A. Fleetwood. “Drama is an area that can be provided with a minimum expense and it will eventually pay for itself.”

“1 don’t have it right now but I did some figuring and I can come up with $500 in personal funds to donate towards the purchase of the lights. I feel that strongly,” said Baumberger.

The Board members thanked Baumberger for his commendable offer but unanimously agreed that his donation of time and talent was more than sufficient.

The Board also voted unanimously to send a resolution to the Virginia School Board Association expressing opposition to the proposal for duty free lunch periods at the public elementary schools throughout the state. Norton said he didn’t think the proposal would pass the State legislature as it would result in an estimated six million dollar cost to Virginia schools. □
