The large frame house owned by Emerson Smith near Amissville was destroyed by fire Tuesday. Only a small amount of furniture was saved from the first floor as flames lapped their way through the length of the house. Mr. Smith who was in bed, sustained a cut hand as he escaped and was treated at Warren Memorial Hospital and released. Two other occupants of the house also escaped but several pets were reportedly burned in the building.
