Editor's Remarks

in this, our fourth annual issue of the Rappahannock Guide, we want to celebrate the beauty and bounty of our land.

The acres upon acres of scenic pastures, rolling hills and mountain views provide a landscape that many of us reverently call God’s Country."

All one has to do. whether a tourist or a native, is drive west on Route 211 and look at the beckoning heavens above Massie’s Comer to know that this is a paradise worth preserving from the development that knocks on our borders.

The land provides farmers with bounnful fruits and vegetables, a lot of which is organic. Orchards abound where families can pick their own apples, cherries, peaches, strawberries, blueberries and com.

The land is well suited to grow grapes for some of the best wines Virginia has to offer. Beautiful vineyards dot the landscape in Rappahannock bringing visitors from the cities to wine-tastings in the county on weekends.
