In these troubled financial times
we find ourselves in, it always helps to find a little comic relief I was so grateful to find just that when I opened the Aug. 21 edition of the Rappahannock News featuring the paper's endorsement of Gov. Tim Kaine for Barack Obama’s running mate.
Some of the reasons our community paper used to come to this endorsement includes the fact that both Kaine and Obama went to Harvard, both were lawyers representing “the needs of the people”, and both are cultured and articulate. Although nice qualitiesfto possess, these are hardly necessities for a vice president.
What the paper’s endorsement pitch failed to mention were the facts found in Nicholas Horrock’s article beginning on the front page of the same paper. Mr. Horrock’s article discussed the economic slowdown that has finally come home to roost in our wonderfiil county. He noted that Gov. Kaine has cut
