The Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, Virjpxua Society Sons of the American Revolution honored Rappahannock County Sheriffs Office Captain Jeffrey H. Brown as Law Enforcement Officer of the Year 2008 on Oct. 25.
Brown is a 24-year veteran of the Rappahannock County Sheriff's Office. His service will not be remembered as much for the arrests and law enforcement duties, but instead for the countless lives of children he has influenced. Brown initiated Rappahannock County DtARJEL in 1991 through a grant program. Determined for the program not only to survive, but to thrive, Brown volunteered hundreds of hours beyond his normal duties as a Ratral Deputy
Brown is recognized across Virginia as a leader in DARE and other initiatives for children. Rappahannock County's Christmas program for underprivileged children, “Shop With a Deputy’, began in 1996, and has continued through the work of Captain Brown.
