endorsing John McCain

^ Oct. 23) seems to be saying that McCain would be leading in the polls if it weren’t for the worldwide economic crash.

The Rappahannock News characterizes the collapse of the economy as a confluence of events, totally by chance - like a “perfect storm* that blew up over the horizon out of nowhere. In an 11-sentence piece, the newspaper refers to the financial meltdown as a “remarkable coincidence.* It describes it as “unpredictable.* The editorial said twice that it was “unexpected* and four times that it was “sudden* or happened “suddenly.* This observation is naive and simplistic.

The collapse of the world economic market didn’t happen overnight or just by chance. It happened over eight years of President Bush letting Wall Street and mortgage lenders “self-regulate.* And John McCain is much to blame. He, himself has said that he voted with George Bush over 90 percent of the time. That doesn’t sound much like an “outsider* to me. How someone who spent his entire career as part of the Washington Establishment defines himself as an “outsider* is beyond me.

Moreover, once again John McCain, himself said early in his campaign that the economy is not his strung suite. John McCain is not a victim of the economic collapse. He is much to blame for it. And he has no idea how to get us out of it
