The preamble to our
Constitution, created by James Madison, adopted by convention of states in 1787:
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America”.
My forefathers had been in America 57 years before the Constitution was written. I shudder to think what they might say when reviewing the current state of our country and American society in general. Freedom was the reason my forefathers left a relatively secure Europe and ventured to America to make a living from the land. They risked everything, including their own lives, to provide opportunity for themselves and for my family.
