Because of three local Girl Scouts, teachers at Rappahannock County Elementary School now have an outdoor classroom and picnic area, a nature trail bordered by beautiful flowers, and an outdoor-activities book to help them plan classroom recreation.
As a result of their efforts, Kim Sealock, Emily Carter and Caroline Massie, of Culpeper service unit in Amissville, have earned the Gold Award, the highest achievement given by Girl Scouts of the USA. Members of Girl Scout Ambassador Troop 139, the three girls received their awards from Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline Council.
Achieving the Gold Award takes true commitment and dedication. The award is earned by fulfilling requirements that recognize a Girl Scout Ambassador’s commitment to excellence as she develops leadership skills and personal values to meet present and future challenges in her life.
