After nearly 32 years as Rappahannock County’s Circuit Court clerk, Diane Bruce will be retiring March 1.
“I’m not going anywhere. I’m just retiring,” said Bruce, 64, a fixture in the town of Washington, the county seat where she’s also lived for much of her tenure.
Bruce was appointed by 20th Judicial Circuit judges Rayner V. Snead and Carleton Penn to the post Aug. 1, 1977, to fill the term of retiring clerk E. M. “Ned” Jones She won the job in the following November’s election, and has run. unopposed, every eight years since.
